Square open cell backing rod is a compressible, cylindrical polyurethane foam structure that is ideal for use with one part sealants. It is used as a backing in expansion / construction joints and building seal applications including tilt slab construction. It is resistant to most chemicals.

Square backing rod are a compressible and conformable polyethylene foam extrusion measuring 2 metres long. Used as a backing for sealants in expansion/construction joints, it is easy to compress and provides a stable base for building sealing applications. The foam cell structure helps facilitate curing of the sealant, and being made from flexible foam it is easy to cut and shape to various sized joints. They ensure a tight seal to prevent dirt and water entry into the structure, and are compatible with most common building sealants, silicones, gap fillers and foams.
